In
the Vineyard
It
has been a long time since we last sent you an update
on what has happened at Kingsdale. Harvest has come
and gone; the pruning kept us busy during winter;
the vines survived the early spring frosts and they
are now growing lots of new leaves and are starting
to flower.
The
current activity in the vineyard is raising our foliage
wires. These stop the vines from sprawling all over
the place in between the vine rows.
In the Winery
We
have bottled the 2011 Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc and
Chardonnay. They were all picked fairly young. particularly
the Semillon, which at 10.4% Alcohol , has turned
out to be the best Semillon we have ever made, and
the frist straight Semillon we have bottled since
2006. We were able to enter it in only one wine show,
the Australian Small Winemakers Show, where it received
a bronze model. Unfortunately we are still waiting
for the labels!
We
decided to make some "drink now" wines from
the 2011 Shiraz. Picked early we have Shiraz Rose,
a fuschia red wine with an aroma of cherries and raspberries.
It is fresh and vibrant. It has earned our first Silver
Medal. Not only that, it received "best in class"
at the NSW Small wine makers Show at Forbes. The Class
was "Light Red and Rose style wines".
Also
available is a Moscato style Shiraz. Pressed very
shortly after it was transferred ino the tank, it
is a very pale pink with a subtle taste of strawberries
and cream. The ferment was stopped early, resulting
in a sweeter, low alcohol (8%), frizzante wine. It
will be a delight with summer lunches.

CHRISTMAS
CLEARANCE
Inorder to make room for all
our new wine we have some fantastic offers for you.
2008
Rose
2005
Victoria Shiraz
The Victoria is now
6 years old, has mellowed beautifully and is displaying
lots of white pepper on the nose. It is a light cool
climate style, only 13% alcohol, and will go well
with foods for which you normally select a Pinot Noir
- try it with duck!.
The 2008 Rose is a bright
fuschia, dry for a rose, perhaps more of a light red
than a lot of rose styles, and will look beautiful
on he Christmas table. What's more it has cranberry
fruit characters - so it is great with the turkey.
Only
$12 ea or $120 per dozen until Christmas.
In addition we have reduced
the price of our 2008 Merlot Malbec and 2010 Sauvignon
Blanc to $20 ea or $216 per dozen
See our CHRISTMAS
order form
For dozen orders no charge for delivery
to Sydney, Wollongong, Canberra and areas in between,
$12 to other parts of NSW, $20 to Victoria South Australia
and Brisbane, $40 to the rest of Australia.
