Veraison In February, the grape berries start to turn red (veraison) and the birds will soon notice and start to help themselves to the fruit. So it is time to put on the anti-bird nets. We put the nets over with our netting machine. We have nets that cover three rows or five rows. It takes five people to put them out. One to drive the tractor, and two on each side to guide the nets. We then need to close the gaps between the nets. |

The nets are first hooked over
the top wire (see below) at the posts, leaving big loops (see right)

The nets are then pulled through the wire and secured with cable ties. (see below), and finally any remaining gaps are secured with plastic hooks.
